The goal for planning and land use is to have a guide for land use, economic development, and resource management over a period of time. These planning decisions are based on a combination of factors including zoning, population density, soil suitability, locations and behavior of floodplains, and existing land uses. All of this data is managed through GIS technology to research, develop, and implement the progress of the plans.
